Ellen and Jon met their freshmen year of college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and always hung out in the Memorial Union, so it seemed like the perfect fit for the two of them to get married there. After the girls were done getting ready, Ellen’s junior bridesmaid asked if there red dresses were “on purpose.” It was so cute! Ellen laughed and replied, “Of course!” And Madison was incorporated throughout their wedding to the finest detail... the color of the dresses and flowers, Ellen’s garter, and their huge group of closely-knit college friends who attended (photo below). I couldn’t help but incorporate the logo into Ellen’s dress shot for her, too :) Here are some of our favorite photos from the day...
Ellen wore her grandmother’s pearls, and watching her mom put them on her was a beautiful moment...
Ellen and Jon’s ceremony was on the balcony of the Union’s Tripp Commons. It was a really unique ceremony with lots of literary quotes and references that I thoroughly enjoyed! To top off their ceremony, they walked down the aisle as Husband and Wife to the Star Wars theme song :)
We had a blast photographing their Bride and Groom shots and wedding party photos, incorporating UW’s iconic architecture, terrace chairs (when we walked the packed lakefront terrace, all of the students cheered with SUCH enthusiasm!) and Bascom Hall. Ellen and Jon were determined to climb up on Abe... one of the most hilarious feats Adam and I have ever seen (and photographed)!
Another nod to Jon’s favorite movie, their cake was topped with Han Solo and Princess Leia :)
Congratulations, Ellen and Jon! Your wedding was so much fun, and we’re sure that your marriage will be equally awesome!
